Gruevski: SDSM will choose premier, ministers only if it scores election victory

(Opposition) SDSM should learn that a possibility for choosing ministers and government is obtained only via elections and with the support of the majority of citizens, which is the essence of the democracy, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski told reporters on Sunday. He was asked to comment reports of media close to the opposition that an agreement would be reached on a technical government, without Gruevski as PM, namely that an executive commission was to be set up that would function as a government.

"I've been closely monitoring all of these speculations produced by SDSM and media close to them and sometimes wonder about their manner of spreading speculations, creating unreal ambitions and expectations. If I give a very serious answer some may consider that there are bits of truth in regard to setting up an interim government, whose ministers and premier will be chosen by SDSM. If I just smile (to the question), I may be misunderstood, so I'll say that SDSM should learn that it will be able to choose ministers and premier only when it will score a victory at elections and win the trust of the majority of citizens. This is the essence of the democracy," Gruevski said after opening of two double tennis courts in Skopje Sports Center 'Boris Trajkovski'.

Asked if early elections after the New Year could be a possible compromise, Gruevski said there were no plans to that effect so far. lk/16:05
