Free summer vacation provided for 2,000 children at social risk

Some 2,000 children from families at social risk will be able once again this year to use the opportunity to go on a free summer vacation after sending applications to welfare centres by mid-June.

“This year we plan on sending 2,000 children from families at social risk on a free, 7-day summer vacation in Struga. MKD 8 million have been provided for realization of the project this summer,” Minister of Labour and Social Policy Dime Spasov told a press conference on Wednesday.

The service can be used by children from families at social risk, children from families receiving welfare, orphans as well as children with learning disabilities.

The service of a free summer vacation, a project that is being implemented since 2012, has been used thus far by 6,000 children. Another project, which provides a free winter vacation, has been realized for 3,000 children.

“The Government of Macedonia will continue to implement projects that are in the interest of the citizens and children at social risk,” Minister Spasov pledged.
