Xhaferi meets MEPs: The elections will define the path of North Macedonia

The President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, today in Government met a delegation of the European Parliament that came to the country to observe the elections. 

During the meeting, the delegations underlined the overall steps that were undertaken for the election process to be held in a democratic, fair, and transparent way. PM Xhaferi stressed that the first round of the presidential election passed in a peaceful and democratic atmosphere, and that for the second round of presidential and parliamentary elections, all measures have been taken for them to pass in the same atmosphere.

The President of the Government, Xhaferi, informed the present members of the EP Delegation that he held coordination meetings with the SEC, the Ministry of the Interior and the Public Prosecutor, whose smooth and efficient work is of essential importance for the election process.

The interlocutors shared their view that these elections will not only determine who will be in power in North Macedonia but will also determine the future and path of the country.

Moreover, the interlocutors underlined that the Growth Plan is, so far, the most serious political confirmation from the European Union and it is a concrete plan for efficient European integration of the Western Balkans.

At the meeting, PM Xhaferi highlighted that the Government is focused on the activities for successful realization and adopted the updated version of the draft-Reform Agenda, with measures and steps which was shared with the European Commission.

Furthermore, the interlocutors emphasized that for North Macedonia it is of immense importance that the results achieved from the previous years should not be in vain, and in this direction, the support of the pro-European forces in the country is of particular importance.
