Formal opening of apple distribution center

An apple distributive center - EUR 5 million investment of Dubai-based 'Apple Land' company that will create 100 jobs - has been opened Monday in the industrial zone 'Makaza' near Resen.

Apple growers in Prespa region needed such large investment for a long period of time, and today it is becoming a reality and I hope that producers will soon feel its effects, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said at the opening ceremony.

A possibility to have a buyer with direct access to international markets should contribute to the stability of this sector, which is rather significant for the further growth, development of the production of apples in Prespa region, the PM added.

He also pointed out that the industrial zone 'Makaza' was ready to welcome other investors wishing to expend their businesses.

This year the 'Apple Land' also plans to make other investments in Macedonia, namely in cattle breeding and export of Ohrid cherries to Dubai, company's owner Abdushamakh Nasser said at the ceremony.

The distribution center is to export Macedonia's apples to Mid-East countries.
