Gruevski: Employing Macedonia tax breaks program led to 10.100 new jobs
Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski was at the ceremony to begin construction of a logistics center for the Tinex retail chain in the Cojlija industrial zone. Gruevski said that Tinex has contributed to the Employing Macedonia program, which offers tax breaks for companies that hire people from a long list of vulnerable categories.
"I'm very satisfied with this project. Our goal was to increase employment and things are going well, because we've had 10.100 people hired under the program, in 6.750 different companies. The numbers keep growing each day, and the companies are recognizing the potential benefits of the program", Gruevski said.
Employing Macedonia provides breaks in the significant salary taxes for up to five years, if companies hire long term unemployed persons, veterans, youth, elderly workers and single parents. "The project has a strong social component, being focused toward reducing unemployment in these groups", Gruevski said.
Speaking at the event, Gruevski added that the Government is preparing for another expansion of the list of medicine that is covered by the Public Healthcare Fund (FZO). "Most of the medicine that will be added on the list include cancer treatment drugs, recommended by medical professionals. In 15 or 20 days we expect to have a public bid to importers to make their offers for these drugs", Gruevski said.
