PM Dimitriev: 700 social apartments built so far, another 500 set to be constructed soon
Nearly 700 apartments for socially vulnerable groups of citizens have been built in Macedonia, 123 are being built at the moment and it is expected additional 500 apartments to be constructed soon, Prime Minister Emil Dimitriev said Thursday after visiting the Public Enterprise for Management of Residential and Commercial Property in Skopje.
“As regards apartments for socially vulnerable citizens, 700 apartments have been built so far across Macedonia. 123 are being built in Kocani, Makedonski Brod and Gostivar. 500 apartments are planned to be constructed soon in Skopje, Vinica, Sveti Nikole, Pehcevo and Probishtip,” Dimitriev stated adding the project was being implemented ‘at the right pace.’
As regards the construction of apartments for newlywed couples, he said the momentum was ‘good’.
“These kind of apartments have been build in Skopje and Bitola, and many others are going to be built in other places across the country,” stated Dimitriev saying a progress had been made in terms of construction of commercial housing all over Macedonia. With the financial gains from selling commercial apartments, he added, the enterprise is able to fund other programs in the future.
With respect to multi-storey car parks, Dimitriev said the enterprise had so far constructed two such parking garages providing over 700 parking spaces.
“All in all, I am pleased with the way this enterprise is functioning, the level of implementation of government-run programs and I believe we should maintain this course of investing in apartments for different categories of citizens and for multi-storey car parks,” concluded PM Dimitriev.
Cvetko Grozdanov, director of the Public Enterprise for Management of Residential and Commercial Property, thanked the government for the support considering construction of social flats with funds provided by the government and the European Central Bank.
Furthermore, the government, he added, is actively supporting preparations for the largest sporting event expected to take place in Macedonia, namely the 2017 UEFA Super Cup at the National Arena Fillip II of Macedonia.
