Exhibition of modern jewelry opens

Inventive pieces of jewelry dominated by originality, creativity and richness of ideas are displayed at the exhibition of modern jewelry, which Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska opened in the National Gallery of Macedonia-Mala Stanica on Sunday evening.

Kanceska-Milevska stressed the exhibition resulted from the energy of 20 creative young people, who learned their skills within the first creative workshop for modern jewelry, held in Skopje over the past week, moderated by renowned experts from the Netherlands.

"The workshop represents a practical implementation of the Strategy for Development of Creative Industries, prepared by eminent professors in cooperation with NGOs three years ago", she said, adding creative industries are the promoters and carriers of cultural identity, playing an invaluable role in stimulating cultural diversity.

President Gjorge Ivanov, who is one of the strategy authors, said they perceived the potentials of the society through a research, led by professor Antoanela Petkovska, afterwards moulded into a document.

"What was an idea several years ago is now a reality, an example for all young and creative people in Macedonia, who can use their ideas to secure their existence", added Ivanov.

The exhibition is held within the first of three workshops, in the framework of the Ministry's project for enhancement of cultural industries in Macedonia. Furniture and packaging workshops are to be held in July and September.
