Macedonia, Latvia sign agreement on international road transport

In the attendance of countries' Presidents, Minister of Transport and Communications Mile Janakieski and Latvian counterpart Aivis Ronis signed Friday in Riga an agreement for international road transport, enabling the liberalization of bilateral and transit transport of commodities.

The agreement stipulates that bilateral and transit commodity transport is conducted permit-free, which represents a large benefit for Macedonian transporters.

The agreement aims at promoting favorable development of commercial relations, as well as facilitate and regulate international road transport of passengers and commodities, the Transport Ministry said in a press release.

Macedonia has signed agreements for full liberalization with the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Hungary, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, whereas permit-free bilateral and transit transport is enabled with seven other countries.
