Nokia to open mobile application development center in Macedonia next month

Minister of Information Society and Administration, Ivo Ivanovski met Friday in Helsinki with Nokia's Vice President Erkki Ormala to present to him the investment opportunities offered by Macedonia.

"At a meeting with Nokia officials, the opening of a regional center for mobile application development in Macedonia was formally agreed. It will be the first of its kind in the region with a direct cooperation with the Faculty of Information Sciences and Computer Engineering - FINKI. The opening is planned for early June 2012," the Ministry of Information Society and Administration has announced.

The initiative for opening such center was launched recently by the ministry and the Microsoft local office in Macedonia.

"The cooperation between Nokia and FINKI will enable modern applications for the citizens of Macedonia and the region to be designed. It is of great importance for the local IT industry for closer cooperation with one of the most famous manufacturers of mobile phones".

In the course of his visit to Finland, Ivo Ivanovski also met with the Minister of Public Administration and Local Government, Henna Virkkunen.
