Flowers laid on Cento's monument to observe Victory over Fascism Day

On the occasion of the Victory over Fascism Day, flowers have been laid Wednesday on the monument of Metodija Andonov Cento at Macedonia square in Skopje. Cento was a Macedonian revolutionary and statesman. As a result of being the first president of the Anti-Fascist Assembly of the National Liberation of Macedonia, he is considered to be the first president of Macedonia.

Flowers were laid by members of his family, a state delegation made up of the ministers of foreign and interior affairs and health - Nikola Poposki, Gordana Jankuloska and Nikola Todorov, delegations of the President's cabinet, defense ministry and general staff, VMRO-DPMNE, which were joined by Slovenian ambassador Alan Brian Bergant. US ambassador Paul Wohlers and other ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps in Skopje were also in attendance at the flower-laying ceremony.

According to MP Antonio Milososki, who led VMRO-DPMNE's party delegation, Cento had given his contribution in order for us to observe the Europe Day and Victory over Fascism Day.

"Those are the days when the European freedom and European democracy won a victory. But, these freedoms and democracies should not be taken for granted. We all need to make efforts to preserve them," Milososki stated.

Unfortunately, he added, today while celebrating the Victory over Fascism Day, we have reasons to be concerned because parties with pro-fascist ideology are elected to join the parliaments in some European countries.

"It should serve as a warning to every true European that work, freedom and democracy should not be taken for granted and that we must work hard for European freedom," Milososki stressed.
