Report on national vision over Macedonia's sustainable development adopted

Macedonia has already set up the framework of sustainable development policies through measures, activities and guidelines defined in the National Strategy for Sustainable Development, shows the Report on the National Vision for Macedonia's Sustainable Development, prepared domestic experts in the field.

The report, adopted Monday by the Government's National Council for Sustainable Development, will be presented at the conference for sustainable development RIO+20, held June 20-22 in Brazil.

Vice Premier for Economic Affairs Vladimir Pesevski, who will lead the Macedonian delegation to Brazil, said after the national council's session that the RIO+20 meeting is one of the most important global events dedicated to sustainable development, bringing together high-level state officials, as well as thousands of representatives from the private sector.

"The conference aims at defining the guidelines and measures to be undertaken in order to secure a just, safer, cleaner, greener and more prosperous world for all", said Pesevski.

The Report on the National Vision for Macedonia's Sustainable Development, funded by UNDP, represents a comprehensive analysis of Macedonia's efforts towards achieving sustainable growth and development, as well as their overlapping with the goals and projections of RIO+20 and EU's views in the Strategy for Sustainable Growth - Europe 2020.
