Biography: 

Arben Taravari is a prominent neurologist and a politician with an extensive career. He was born on 9 April 1973.

Taravari completed his education at the Medical Faculty within the University  “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje where he specialised in neurology. In 2011 he completed his doctoral research on the topic “Parkinson’s Disease - Clinical signs and Genetics”, as well as his second specialisation in family medicine. 

His professional career started at the University Clinic on Neurology where in the period 2016 until 2017 he was chief of the department for migraines, headaches, and other painful syndromes. In June 2017 he was appointed Minister of Health of the Republic of Macedonia and performed his duties by September 2017. 

In 2017 Taravari was elected mayor of the municipality of Gostivar where he successfully completed his mandate and was re-elected for a second mandate in 2021. 

Beside his political career, Taravari continued providing his contribution in the area of medicine. As of 2022 he works as a lecturer in neurology at the University Clinic for Neurology. Moreover, in 2022 he was appointed acting President of the political party Alijansa za Albancite (Alliance for the Albanians), thus continuing his engagement in the political life in North Macedonia. 

Taravari is a polyglot and in addition to Albanian speaks Macedonian, English, Turkish and Serbian fluently.
