Mickoski: Our commitment to the European integration process will be strengthened in the coming period, the future of Macedonian citizens is within the framework of the European family

Distinguished President of the European Council, Mr. Costa,
Distinguished representatives of the media,
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen,
Today, Skopje is a host of a particularly important visit.
The presence of the President of the European Council, Mr. Kosta, does not only confirm our deep diplomatic cooperation, but it is also a real act of attention, support and interest for the future of our country and the future of Western Balkans, to be, as soon as possible, part of the European Union.
In this new phase, when the citizens have given us, the new Macedonian government, the responsibility, my obligation as a Prime Minister is to speak openly, sincerely and with dignity.
I do this primarily because I have a duty to the people, but also to the European idea itself that we are so persistently striving to realize.
Our commitment to the European integration process will remain and will be strengthened in the coming period, the future of Macedonian citizens is within the framework of the European family
President Costa said in his speech a moment ago that the path to full membership within the European Union is frustrating, difficult, and challenging, but we as citizens, as a people, can say that we have been walking the most difficult path for years.
It is a fact that this path was taken by all the other people who are now part of the European family, but the citizens of this, one of the smallest countries in the heart of the Balkan and Europe, have walked and are still walking the most difficult path; if we can say that they are walking it, because we are in the same place where we were 20 years ago.
I hope that in the forthcoming period we will jointly de-block this process, with dignity, because one of the essential European values is exactly the dignity.
And we will be part of the European family with dignity. I am convinced that we have values, we have the capacity, we have knowledge and we know how to walk that path in the fastest way possible, and with the help that President Costa is giving himself, and the support and help we have from the European Commission and the member-states, I am convinced that we will create quality reforms and reforms which will provide European future for our country and for our citizens.
