Minister of finance Stavreski expects banks to keep cutting their interest rates

Citizens, business sector always welcome banks' decisions to cut the interest rates and we expect for this trend to continue in the future, considering the sound coordination of the fiscal and monetary policy, Vice-Premier and Minister of finance  Zoran Stavreski told reporters on Thursday.

"Cutting of the interest rates of the National Bank and the Ministry of Finance sends a clear signal that we expect for the banking sector to gradually, but substantially follow the suit, as there is a room for such a move, namely liquid assets. It is very important for most of them to end up in the economy," Stavreski said.

Stavreski said he was glad that the number of national currency deposits was growing, "as it a sign of trust in the Macedonian denar and banking sector."
