Minister of Finance: Government doesn't intend to raise taxes, revise budget
Macedonia's Government has no intention to raise the taxes and revise the budget, Vice Prime Minister and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski told reporters on Tuesday.
"Macedonia's Government, alike all others in Europe in this period of crisis, is facing challenges to provide with sufficient budget revenues, but as you know, we have decided to run our fiscal policy without imposing an additional burden on the economy and the citizens, namely not to raise the taxes and take other (unpopular) measures as almost all EU countries have done," Stavreski said.
When asked about the possibility of taking new anti-crisis measures, Stavreski said the fight against the economic difficulties would not stop.
"This year's budget has been adopted, which is one of the key instruments for supporting the economy with an ample sum for capital investments. I believe that the launch of several capital projects, such as the construction of the railway to Bulgaria, the Demir-Kapija-Smokvica road section - part of the Corridor 10, and many more should help Macedonia's economy to pull out of the crisis," Stavreski said.
