Cinematheque of Macedonia launches activities to preserve audiovisual cultural heritage

Depots in the Cinematheque of Macedonia are filled with materials depicting the Macedonian cinematography, which is selected in line with up-to-date international standards. A crucial project will be promoted this year - digital restoration of the films directed by Stole Popov. The Cinematheque also started restoring the films of Manaki brothers.

This was stated on Thursday by the Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska after a working visit to the Cinematheque of Macedonia.

She said the depots were a project of great significance for the Cinematheque and the state that was financed by the Ministry of Culture.

"The institution got new depots with adequate conditions to preserve the national cinematography. I'm impressed with the personnel who take care of the materials, their knowledge and commitment to preserve the audiovisual cultural heritage," the minister noted.

She said that the project focused on digitalising all feature and documentary films by Stole Popov was the first of its kind, which was planned to be promoted in October.
