International conference on water sector challenges

"Challenges in Water Sector within European Union Approximation Process" is the topic of an international conference, held October 4-5 in Skopje, organized by the association of utility service providers in Macedonia "ADKOM" and Skopje-based public enterprise "Vodovod i Kanalizacija".

Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Abdilaqim Ademi said the goal of the 3. international conference on waters is to present the latest techniques and experiences by state institutions and internationally relevant companies in the field, as well as experiences by national enterprises in determining and implementing European requirements.

"The conference will help define clear guidelines on improved waste water management, experience exchange towards introducing methodologies and techniques for more efficient waste water treatment, as well as funding. This will be beneficial not only for public enterprises, but also for the competent ministry", said Ademi.

According to him, the ministry follows European requirements in the section of waste water treatment, achieving a large degree of transposition.

"In the following period we will focus on identification of the sensitive areas of waste water release and agglomeration in the Republic of Macedonia. Much of the activities will focus on improvement of the waste water monitoring and institutional cooperation, along with integrated approach in water management", stressed Minister Ademi.
