MEPSO puts into operation new 8 km of 110 kV transmission line Vrutok-Polog-Tetovo

Macedonian transmission system operator (MEPSO) put Sunday into operation the newly built 8 km of 110 kV transmission line Vrutok-Polog-Tetovo. By completing of this section, a 110 kV transmission line is put into operation which power supplies Tetovo and its surrounding from TEC Olsomej and HEC Vrutok.

In three months 33 steel lattice pillars were placed at the route of 8 kilometres. Newly constructed past of the transmission line is fully functional and connected through existing line with transformer station Tetovo 1.

Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Vladimir Pesevski, Economy Minister Valjon Saraqini and MEPSO general manager Dejan Boskovski will visited Sunday final reconstruction works of 110 kV transmission line Vrutok-Polog-Tetovo.

Pesevski said that the project is part of the development strategy of energy in Macedonia. Construction works are carried out by EMO from Ohrid. Also investments made by ELEM and announced and conducted investments by MEPSO are a proof that implementation of the energy strategy will open new jobs, Pesevski said.

The last 38 pillars are planned to be completed in the spring. The two systems of this transmission line will provide efficient power supply for the areas in the region or broader, which is very important for those who still lack appropriate and efficient electricity supply.

The total length of two-system transmission line is 33 kilometres, where 133 steel lattice pillars were placed and project’s value is €3 million.

Saraqini said that it is the first reconstruction of the existing 110 kV transmission line which is operational for almost 60 years. So far, 16 kilometres from new route are completed and the entire transmission line will become operational by mid of 2013.
