Czech Republic supports launching of Macedonia's EU accession talks

The Czech Republic traditionally supports Macedonia's accession to the EU and NATO, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said Tuesday after meeting his Czech counterpart Petr Necas in Prague.

The Czech Republic in generally supports the EU enlargement process and at all events that tackle Macedonia's integration, Prague is always on our side, Gruevski said.

Gruevski said he was assured that the Czech Republic would help Macedonia to get a date for opening the EU accession talks.

"The Czech support also refers to the plan of the European Commission, which recently said that Macedonia's accession talks should be launched without delay. In terms of bilateral relations the Czech Republic refers to the country as the Republic of Macedonia and the agreements between the two countries are being signed under our constitutional name," Gruevski said.

Gruevski said he and Necas also addressed the bilateral economic cooperation, agreeing on the upward trend of the trade exchange, in particular Macedonia's export to the Czech Republic.
