FM Poposki: Indonesian businessmen show huge interest in Macedonia's investment opportunities

An Indonesian business delegation is expected to visit Macedonia soon in order to explore its investment opportunities and several bilateral agreements are set to be concluded aiming at boosting the overall cooperation between the countries, Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki told on Wednesday.

In Jakarta he met his Indonesian counterpart Marty Natalegawa, the ministers of economy and trade and officials of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce.

"Today's meetings brought fresh elements into the potential to further develop our relations. At the moment, foreign exchange is quite limited - about 100 million dollars annually but only in one direction. We've discussed the opportunity to balance the foreign exchange i.e. to open Indonesia's market for Macedonian products while also presenting Macedonia's investment opportunities. The first ministerial visit to Indonesia resulted in arranging a business delegation to visit Macedonia. Indonesia is a market of 250 million inhabitants having a great potential for further development," Poposki stated.

The talks in Jakarta and the possible bilateral agreements on economy, education and culture could pave the way for intensified dynamics in the relations between Macedonia and Indonesia, according to the FM.

Poposki with his hosts also discussed Indonesia's activities within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the opportunity for Macedonian companies to be promoted on the market of 600 million people.

At the meeting with FM Natalegawa, assurance was voiced that the first high-ranking level between Macedonia and Indonesia laid the foundation for advancing the overall cooperation between the countries, Macedonia's MoFA said in a press release. Both interlocutors concluded that there was a huge potential for expanding business cooperation and foreign exchange considering the size of Indonesia's market and the necessity of various goods and products.

FM Poposki before representatives of the business community and media held a presentation of Macedonia's conditions for doing business and investing. Indonesian businessmen showed interest in the opportunities offered for cooperation in the field of construction, energy, information technology, pharmaceutical and food industry, stated the press release.
