MARRI Migration Paper 2012 promoted

The Migration, Asylum, Refugees Regional Initiative (MARRI) Migration Paper 2012, released by the MARRI Regional Center, was promoted in the Skopje-based Army Hall on Thursday.

The paper's goal is to make a comprehensive overview and analysis of the state of play of migration and related areas within the MARRI scope of work.

Minister of Interior Gordana Jankuloska said the migration phenomenon in global terms, especially in recent years, has its influence in almost all spheres of social life.

"The MoI has demonstrated its commitment over the years, not only to implementation of European principles and other standards, but also the country's establishment as a credible partner in international cooperation and activities", said Jankuloska.

She referred to the ministry's continual results in the fight against human trafficking, a segment involving migration issues, resulting in Macedonia's global ranking as a country fully meeting standards in the fight against human trafficking.

"There are many tasks, projects, activities ahead. The MARRI Migration Paper 2012 demonstrates the complexity and importance of future challenges. Recommendations in the study will have positive feedback through undertaking measures towards building efficient policies and activities in management of migration flows in the region - legal and illegal, asylum, visas, consular cooperation, border management etc", underlined Minister Jankuloska.
