New jobs, revenues for municipalities from concessions for mineral raw materials

The government is looking for a concessioner to perform geological excavations at Majdan site near Kavadarci, better known as Allchar. Majdan is one of the 72 sites for which the government has issued a call to pick a concessioner for thorough geological excavations for mineral raw materials. The call is open till Jan. 21, government spokesman Aleksandar Gjorgiev told Wednesday's news conference.

An interest for geological excavations has been shown by international companies from the United States and Western Europe, but these possibilities should be also used by domestic ones, he urged.

Allchar is a site known for the rare minerals thallium and lorandite, which can be found in their purest form and in great quantities. The concessioner will carry out excavations in a period of two to four years and depending on the results, there will be a possibility for concession allowing exploitation.

The government call offering 72 sites aims at creating new conditions for growth of businesses, opening jobs and securing revenues for the municipalities and the state.

Local and foreign legal and physical entities and consortiums have the right to take part in the call.
