Poposki: Borisov visit - expression of normal dialogue

The weekend visit of Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov to Macedonia was not unexpected, but an expression of normal dialogue, said Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki on Monday.

"The visit was not sudden. These are two neighbors with a joint border. This type of dialogue is normal and continual. I would urge such dialogue among all regional countries. The talks were positive and we agreed to focus on the common benefits, not to burden with certain obstacles. I believe there is exceptionally constructive cooperation with the Republic of Bulgaria at this time, which was shared between the countries' PMs. This is the key message of this visit", said FM Poposki at the joint press conference with Serbian counterpart Ivan Mrkic, who is paying an official visit to Macedonia.

Poposki did not say when an agreement for cooperation and good neighborly relations would be signed with Sofia, but underlined the importance of the message for building good neighborly relations resulting from the Gruevski-Borisov meeting.

"Gestures and mutual ties are very important in good neighborly relations, much more important than what is put on paper. If the executives of two neighboring countries say they work towards good relations, this is a much bigger benefit than anything on paper", stressed FM Poposki.
