Construction of “Bosava” hydro system begins

The project “Bosava” is one of the most interesting projects carried out in Macedonia because it represents a connection of several important components, Deputy PM Vladimir Pesevski said Saturday attending the ceremony which marked the start of construction of this large project in Kavadarci.

The investment worth €13 million will be realised with public-private partnership.

The Government through the public water management enterprise “Tikves”, Kavadarci and Rosoman municipalities, as well as a private company from Slovenia are the partners in this project.

The multifunctional project will increase the capacity of drinking water in the two municipalities and will provide water for irrigation, while by utilisation of potentials of Bosava River, five mini hydro-power plants with a total installed capacity of 10.8 MW will be constructed.

This is a foreign investment, and attracting foreign investments is a general determination of the Republic of Macedonia. The project aims at utilizing natural resources of the country. The project foresees production of electricity from renewable energy sources which means protection of environment and resolving the problems of the citizens with drinking water and irrigation in the agriculture, Pesevski said.

General Director Turbo Institute, Vladimir Kercan said that the project would be implemented by the end of 2013.

Director of public water management enterprise “Tikves” Ljube Dimov said that water supply system would resolve the problems with drinking water over the next 30 years.
