PM Gruevski congratulates Passover holiday to the Jewish community in Macedonia

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski sent a note of congratulations Monday to the President and members of the Jewish community in Macedonia over the great Jewish holiday Pesach (Passover), wishing them time of peace, prayers and tranquility.

"Many nations have tasted the bitterness of slavery throughout the history. Unfortunately neither the Macedonian nor the Jewish people were spared from this painful social phenomenon. However, the freedom has been one of the greatest values for people, an ideal for which they have been always willing to give their lives and make sacrifices. Hence, let's remember and celebrate that ideal by the great holiday Pesach," the note reads.

These holidays are a treasury for the Jewish community, but they also bear universal significance we should all nourish to contribute together to better future, respect, tolerance and harmony among people.

"Your community has substantially contributed to preserving, promoting and spreading of these values. I expect to continue together on this road towards further advancing of these values and developing of the overall relations in the Republic of Macedonia," Gruevski says in his note.
