A plant of the German-based automotive company Draexlmaier, which is being built in Kavadarci, is named the best production facility by fDi Inteligence - a specialized edition of The Financial Times on all spheres connected with foreign direct investments and their promotion around the globe.

The production facility in Macedonia is named the best within the frameworks of the annual edition 'FDI Top Projects of the Year 2012 – Investment That Broke Ground'.

Covering over 16.000 greenfield projects worldwide nominated for 2012, the e-edition of fDi Intelligence for February and March presented the winners in several sectors and categories.

The Draexlmaier plant in Kavadarci intended for production of wiring systems in the automotive industry was chosen amongst numerous and prestigious competitors, including Mercedes-Benz in Hungary, Yazaki in Bulgaria and Bosch in Romania, the cabinet of the minister for foreign investments, Vele Samak, says in a press release.

The 30-million euro Draexlmaier investment in Macedonia is expected to open 4,000 new jobs. The German company reached a decision to invest in Macedonia in December 2011 following months-long negotiations with minister Samak. The plant currently employs over 560 people. Minister Samak said he expected the number to be increased to 1,000 jobs by year's end.

"The fact that the Kavadarci-based plant was named a winner by the world-renowned edition fDi Intelligence in competition with other prestigious companies makes us truly proud and demonstrates our efforts and commitment to our work," Samak stated.
