PM Gruevski meets EU foreign policy chief Ashton

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Catherine Ashton, the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, discussed Tuesday in Skopje on Macedonia's reforms and EU integration process.

Gruevski and Ashton agreed that the European Commission's spring report on Macedonia set the basis for the country's progress.

They also agreed that Macedonia-EU High-Level Accession Dialogue (HLAD) was rather significant for the country, bringing results and assisting the reforms for meeting the European standards.

Gruevski referred to the ongoing reforms in several spheres and the Government's commitment to modernization of the country, which were already notified in the last December EC progress report on Macedonia.

He reaffirmed the commitment to nourishing good-neighborly relations and finding a mutually acceptable solution with Greece to the imposed dispute over Macedonia's name under the UN auspices.

Gruevski extended gratitude to Ashton on her engagement in overcoming the challenges in the region and support of its progress.
