New sports hall for Skopje University

Construction works for a new sports hall located at Skopje-based "Cyril and Methodius" University kicked off on Saturday.

The sports hall, with a capacity for 1,100 spectators, is worth approximately 2.5 million euros provided by the government as part of its project for construction of 35 sports halls across the country.

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Premier Nikola Gruevski, Skopje University rector Velimir Stojkovski and director of the Agency for Youth and Sports, Aleksandar Pujovski.

According to Gruevski, the sports hall could be adjusted for basketball, handball, volleyball, futsal, wrestling, etc.

"The hall will meet the needs of the students who deserve a space in which they can exercise," the PM said adding that the multifunctional premises would be completed in two years' time.

The construction of the large-scale sports facility is of great importance for the Skopje University, he stated.

"This is a time when sports halls are being built in Macedonia. A sport hall has been constructed in every city, school, university and many more are going to be built," Gruevski concluded.
