Self-Employment Programme website promoted

Minister of Labor and Social Policy Spiro Ristovski, Employment Service Agency director Vlatko Popovski and UNDP Assistant Resident Representative in Macedonia Vesna Dzuteska-Bisheva promoted Sunday the website of the Self-Employment Programme www.samovrabotuvanje.mk, towards full, transparent and accessible way of informing all stakeholders.

Minister Ristovski said the 2013 operational plan on active employment programmes and measures would encompass almost 10,000 people. According to him, the Self-Employment Programme is one of the most successful and has real effect on the unemployment rate.

"After seven years of programme's implementation, there are over 4,900 active small businesses and 72 percent solvent firms. Interest for the programme is increasing, with about 2,000 candidates applying this year, whereas training for 700 selected candidates are ongoing", said Ristovski.

Agency director Popovski stressed interest ranged from agriculture, services, trade, up to production.

UNDP representative Dzuteski-Bisheva stressed one quarter of small businesses have secured the employment of third persons, 25 percent have been established by individuals up to the age of 27, whereas 37 percent of businesses are run by women.
