Stavreski expects Turkish companies to start business in Macedonia

Turkey and Macedonia have no outstanding issues. These two friendly countries will keep on fostering excellent strategic political and economic relations in the future, said Deputy PM and Minister of Finance Zoran Stavreski, who is paying a visit to Turkey to take part in an annual meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

"Turkey and Macedonia have been nourishing deep cordial relations for years at political and economic level. I would say the two countries have established a better political than economic cooperation, but I expect business ties to be strengthened in the future. However, countries' top officials have on many occasions demonstrated support to the efforts made by the states in meeting various goals," minister Stavreski stated.

He stressed that Macedonia had been offering significant benefits to Turkish investors involving tax climate, low taxes, additional tax benefits for investing in the free economic zones, qualified workforce, etc.

FinMin Stavreski said he expected many Turkish investors, who were familiar with the conditions for investing in Macedonia as a result of the economic presentations organised by the government, to come in Macedonia and start a business.

This year's meeting is focusing on the economic challenges in the region from Europe to North Africa where the EBRD recently became active in and on the ways to return to growth - be it through technological or financial innovation, increasing competitiveness, supporting dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or creating better opportunities for entrepreneurial talent, such as female business owners.
