Government awards scholarships for studying at 87 top fine arts schools

Macedonia's Government will award full scholarships for studying at 87 renowned universities and colleges in the field of fine arts i.e. music, filmmaking and painting, for which an open call is due to be announced.

Government spokesman Aleksandar Gjorgiev told a press conference on Tuesday that fees and accommodation costs of those students enrolled at the universities, colleges or specialized schools would be fully covered.

All Macedonian citizens are able to apply for the scholarships, to enroll at some of the 87 universities and schools no later then August 31.

"The scholarships will cover the costs for completing undergraduate studies and starting postgraduate studies within these educational institutions," Gjorgiev said adding the objective was to provide an opportunity to many young people to upgrade their education at some of the most prestigious universities and schools.

The Government's intention, according to him, is as many young people as possible to take this opportunity, while the state will cover the costs regardless of the number of students who would apply.

In order a scholarship to be awarded, the student needs to be admitted at some of the higher educational institutions in Europe, the United States and China. Once they complete their studies, scholarship holders are obliged to return and work in Macedonia.
