New high school to be constructed in Saraj municipality

Construction works for a high school building, expected to be inaugurated in September 2014, were launched Saturday in the Skopje municipality of Saraj. Funds totalling 48 million denars were provided by the Ministry of Education and Science.

The school with a capacity for 350 students will be built on an area of 1,700 square meters.

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by the Deputy PM responsible for the implementation of the Framework Agreement, Musa Xhaferi, Education Minister Spiro Ristovski and his deputy Safet Neziri and by the mayors of Skopje and Saraj - Koce Trajanovski and Bekim Murati.

"Students in the new school will attend classes in Albanian language. The facility will be an example of modern architecture with contemporary equipment and interior design to meet the needs in producing adequate cadres," minister Ristovski said.

The school is envisaged to provide an easy access to high school education to young people living in the municipality, who have to commute to neighbouring municipalities in Skopje to attend classes.

Today, mayor Murati said, is a historic day for 40.000 inhabitants of the Saraj municipality. "The municipality is strongly committed to improving its educational capacities in an attempt to enable new generations of young people to be competitive on markets in Europe and beyond."
