Reconstructed Corridor 10 12,4km-long railway section Miravci-Smokvica was put into use on Thursday.

Minister of Transport and Communications Mile Janakieski stressed the last reconstruction of the railroad was carried out 43 years ago, whereas the overhaul of section Tabanovce-Kumanovo were in the final stages.

"This is the first part of the reconstruction of 55,4km of Corridor 10 railroads, funded by EUR 17,6 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), whereas the second part includes the reconstruction of 31km-long section Nogaevci-Negotino", said Janakieski.

Director of public enterprise "Macedonian Railways - Infrastructure" Irfan Asani said the reconstruction involved replacement of the wooden sleepers with concrete ones and replacement of rails with new ones.
