Saraqini: Over 400 abandoned industrial facilities to activate through 'brownfield' investments

A process of recomposing, restructuring, reconstruction and introduction of new operating process for production or other types of activities by using the "brownfield" principle at 400 industrial sites throughout Macedonia will contribute to a faster development of municipalities, said Economy Minister Valon Saraqini during Thursday's visit to Gostivar.

"Brownfield investments represent a new model that the Government is working on to attract investments. It focuses on industrial land, which is currently not used, but has development potential for new uses", said Saraqini.

Gostivar Mayor Nevzat Bejta thanked for the Government's cooperation, which would contribute to revival of municipalities.

"The municipality fully supports this initiative. Revival of old, unused facilities, which have not been used for quite a while, will contribute to faster economic development and new jobs", said Bejta.

According to Minister Saraqini, the total size of land intended for such type of investments amounted to about 4,7 million m2.
