FinMin: Double-digit growth in construction - a result of capital investments

Construction will directly benefit from the projected record-breaking amount of 22.5 billion denars for capital investments in 2014. Investments in construction, registering a 34% growth this year, are the reason behind double-digit growth rates in recent years, Zoran Stavreski said Thursday.

The Deputy PM and Finance Minister told reporters in Prilep that many construction projects had been realized in the past few years in Macedonia pledging the trend would continue in the future.

"We are strongly committed to investing in capital projects, because it is the only way to improve infrastructural conditions as well as the citizens' standards and to back the domestic economy and local construction firms being part of numerous capital projects funded by the country's budget," Stavreski stated.

He added that the growth of 34% in construction was achieved in the midsts of an economic crisis in Europe.

"The data show that companies have been supported working within construction as well as smaller firms dealing with supplying of materials and equipment for the construction companies working on major projects. Hundreds of Macedonian firms directly benefit from the increase in capital investments," FinMin Stavreski noted.
