Kondarko stepped down following Zaev's order, says Gruevski

Boris Kondarko shouldn't act humbly according to SDSM's decision because he has been holding a public office and bears responsibility before the citizens, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said Friday in relation to Kondarko's resignation as chairman of the State Election Commission (SEC).

"The opposition in Macedonia is in unpleasant situation because for years they are trying to win the trust of the citizens and every time elections are approaching, they make attempts to stir a political crisis in order to find themselves an alibi for being defeated. In such a connotation, I understand what is happening now with regards to Kondarko. It is by far unprincipled and irresponsible a party leader (Zoran Zaev) to reveal that he had tasked or ordered the SEC chairman to step down, even though he was appointed by his party," Gruevski told reporters during his visit to the region of Bitola.

The problem, according to him, is deeply rooted in the fact that the citizens don't trust SDSM. "And the lack of trust is a result of the bad polices implemented by SDSM and the absence of serious ideas that could improve the situation in Macedonia," stressed Gruevski.
