Macedonia signs declaration on Western Balkan cooperation and innovations

In the framework of a ministerial conference in Zagreb, seven regional countries signed Friday a declaration on the adoption of a regional research development strategy on innovations in the Western Balkans.

"This is an exceptionally significant document, a strategy including a number of initiatives and activities towards exchange of ideas and experiences, aimed at enhancing cooperation among regional states and larger investments in science and innovations. It projects a budget of EUR 200 million, IPA and donors' funds", Minister of Education and Science Spiro Ristovski told MIA.

In the conference address, Ristovski stressed the Government's commitment to increasing investments in science and research when possible.

He referred to the strategy for innovations, establishment of a fund for innovations and technological development, as well as the country's prospects towards further development of the innovation field.

The Zagreb conference is organized by the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sport, supported by the World Bank, the European Commission and the Regional Cooperation Council.
