Infrastructure important for German investors

German companies are interested in cooperation with Macedonian counterparts, with infrastructure the main prerequisite for investments and doing business in Macedonia.

German representatives are currently visiting Macedonia in order to get first-hand information on the investment conditions and future projects.

German Deputy-Ambassador Hans-Helge Sander said at Thursday's conference organized by the representative office of the German Industry and Commerce that Macedonia is an interesting location for investments.

"Corridors 8 and 10 and the favorable geographic position make the country a knot connecting many markets, countries and ports. Infrastructure plays a large role. German companies that have invested in Kavadarci and Bitola say the infrastructure at these locations makes it possible for swift transport with lorries loaded with finished products in just hours", stressed Sander.

He referred to the positive steps undertaken by the Government, such as increase of capital investments and the Chinese EXIM bank credit for the construction of Miladinovci-Stip and Kicevo-Ohrid motorways.

Minister of Transport and Communications Mile Janakieski said investments in road and railway infrastructure remained the Government's priority.

Moreover, German representatives voiced interest for direct cooperation with Macedonian companies in the logistics field.
