Stavreski: Banks to increase company crediting

Banks in Macedonia should increase crediting of companies, thus supporting the economic growth, said Vice Premier and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski at the regional forum of governors and finance ministers, held in Skopje on Thursday.

According to him, there are conditions for increase of crediting by banks.

"Bank liquidity is at the highest level ever. The 11.9-percent of non-functional loans is the lowest rate in the region. Banks have room for increase of company crediting. The 3.7 percent growth should rise to 7-8 percent next year, thus supporting the increase of investments", said Stavreski at the forum.

He added the Government would provide support through a new credit line of EUR 100 million from the European Investment Bank, which has already been approved.

National Bank Governor Dimitar Bogov also told banks to increase company crediting.

"There is ambiance of credit growth revival. According to projections, it will exceed three percent and continue to rise even stronger in 2014", said Bogov.
