12 new titles of project for translation of books used at top universities promoted

Twelve new books of medicine, economics, law and natural sciences were launched Wednesday at the 50th jubilee promotion as part of the project for translation of 1,000 textbooks used at the world's leading universities.

Thus far, 845 books have been translated.

"The milestone - 50th book promotion - speaks volumes about the capital of knowledge and literature that has entered into the Macedonian society since 2009 when the project was launched," Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said at the promotion.

Students, scholars, professors and researchers and all those willing to know more, he added, now are offered top works from contemporary science with the translation of these books.

"I hope they will be used in the best possible way and in the long run our country will be enriched with a lot of knowledge, capabilities and better competitiveness in relation to human capital," stated Gruevski.

Minister of Education and Science Spiro Ristovski said there was a possibility the project to be expanded by opening reading rooms in other cities across Macedonia or by commissioning translations of new books.

The project for translation of 1,000 textbooks used at prestigious and top universities in the US, Britain, France and Germany was launched in 2009. Books in various fields, including law, economics, entrepreneurship, innovations, agriculture, veterinary medicine, biotechnology, construction, architecture, etc, have been translated so far.
