Forty furnished apartments for orphans

Forty orphans will move into fully furnished apartments by March 2014, said Minister of Transport and Communications Mile Janakieski and Minister of Labor and Social Policy Dime Spasov at Thursday's press conference.

The apartments are located in Skopje, Debar, Ohrid, Kratovo, Stip, Strumica, Gevgelija, Radovis, Veles, Bogomila, Kavadarci, Prilep and Bitola.

The 35-47m2 apartments will have a furnished living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, along with household appliances. The criteria for allocation of the apartments is that individuals had been institutionally cared for up to the age of 18, along with the number of years since they left the orphans' home, as well as the acquired property in the meantime.

"This project is implemented in order to help orphans after they leave the home, since they commonly live in sub-standard conditions. The furnishing of these apartments will provide them with decent living conditions", said Minister Janakieski.

"Besides allocating apartments and paying lease, competent institutions also pay financial assistance on different grounds, as well as undertake measures for employment of this category", added Minister Spasov.
