Five volumes from 'Macedonian Temptations' edition promoted

Five new volumes from the capital edition "Macedonian Temptations" were launched Thursday in Skopje. The editions are dedicated to individuals and historical events that had left a mark in Macedonia's history, including Goce Delcev, Vasil Cakalarov, Todor Aleksandrov, Risto Siskov and the Balkan Wars.

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska and editor-in-chief of the project "Macedonian Temptations" were in attendance at the book promotion.

"The project 'Macedonian Temptations' provides an extensive scientific, literary and cinematic outlook of several historical subjects, individuals and events from the history of Macedonia. It's the least we can do for present and future generations - to offer a Macedonian viewpoint of things. All of them will have the chance to return to the Macedonian past through articles written by Macedonian contemporary scholars and through contemporary Macedonian documentaries," said Gruevski.

The project, he added, is a result of the Government's efforts to create something valuable for present and future generations.

"As part of these efforts in the sphere of culture, we have already wrapped up several capital projects and many more are under way. In this spirit, Macedonia is slowly but surely taking up its rightful place in the world described by Goce Delcev - the great apostle of Macedonia's revolutionary struggle - as a field for cultural competition among nations," Gruevski noted.

Minister Kanceska-Milevska said the edition offered scientific facts, arguments and interpretations speaking volumes about Macedonia's long-running history of struggle for statehood and independence.

"Through this edition, the citizens of Macedonia are able to learn a lot about the well-known and unexplored areas of our past, important events and processes in Macedonia's recent history and the revolutionary and spiritual force of the Macedonian people in meeting its statehood goals," said Kanceska-Milevska.

It is envisaged 25 exclusive books to be published as part of the project "Macedonian Temptations", which will be accompanied by documentary features. Ten editions have been promoted thus far.
