Gruevski: Macedonia's economy noted as fastest growing by World Bank

World Bank's forecast on Macedonia's economic growth is an affirmation of the efforts made in a bid to improve the economy amid extremely difficult circumstances of crises, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said Thursday after a promotion of five new volumes from the edition "Macedonian Temptations."

"The World Bank has estimated that Macedonia last year had achieved the third biggest economic growth in Europe, that this year the country will have the second biggest growth and one of the largest ones in 2015. It is an affirmation of what we have been saying and projecting. The results are an affirmation of all efforts made in the past to improve the economy amid extremely difficult circumstances of crises - the global one and the European debt crisis," Gruevski stated.

The PM vowed the Government would resume its dynamics of work after its formation. "The Government will continue being strongly focused on the economy in an attempt not only to achieve these prognosis but also to exceed them."

"Reviving the economy in these conditions achieving the highest percent of growth in comparison with other countries in Europe means that things in economy are headed in the right direction. This doesn't mean that we don't have any problems with unemployment or something else, but things are headed in the right direction. We are encouraged by these results and we are going to resume the policies yielding such results amid challenging circumstances and keep upgrading them with fresh ideas, which will accelerate growth even more," Gruevski noted.

Macedonia led by this Government has always had solid results in economic growth, according to him.

"The Republic of Macedonia with this Government at the helm has always had one of the best results in economic growth even during the most severe crisis, for example in 2009 when a drop had been registered. And it was the third best result in Europe, because other countries had experienced drastic drops. Thus, it is nothing new to me that Macedonia is one of the first taking into account economic growth, but I am pleased by the fact that the World Bank has projected the same thing in 2014 and 2015," added PM Gruevski.
