Promotion of 33 titles from edition "Stars of World Literature"

Thirty-three new titles from edition "Stars of World Literature" were promoted in Skopje-based National and University Library "St.Kliment Ohridski" on Wednesday.

Today's titles bring the number of translated books to 300 out of the planned 560.

The translations include books by Catullus, Horace, Tibulus, Propertius, Ovid, Virgil, Chikamatsu, Pinter, Austin, Wolff etc.

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska attended the promotion.

"Today we have new works that represent epochal achievements in their respective literatures, but also global literature", said PM Gruevski.

According to him, the translation of these masters represents an important literary event in any part of the world.

"The emergence of these works in our edition 'Stars of World Literature' can be seen as a holiday for our culture and our language. This project broadens the rage of our national culture, but also the possibilities for acquainting with the global work, aesthetic and ideas in the context of diverse periods and corners of the world", added Gruevski.

Minister Kanceska-Milevska said such projects establish Macedonia as a country respecting and affirming global literary values and their contribution in general civilizational development.

"'Stars of World Literature' represents an anthological selection of the best in global literature. This project confirms the vitality and vivacity of the Macedonian language, its way to capture even the most subtle thoughts of the master authors", stressed Kanceska-Milevska.
