Gruevski: Rise in industry turnover demonstrates economic progress

Rise in the industry turnover of 9.5 percent in May compared to the same month in 2013 demonstrates there is economic progress, said Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski on Wednesday.

"The largest rise of 36 percent is among capital goods, but there is also increase in other sections. This is another favorable macroeconomic trend showing the country posts excellent results in this period, meaning there is serious economic progress", Gruevski told reporters while checking the progress of construction works at Miladinovci-Stip motorway.

According to him, the effects of the European debt crisis were felt up to last year.

"The period of growth is now coming and it is no coincidence there is a GDP rise of 3.9 percent in the first quarter, the largest in Europe", added Gruevski.

He said the policies of stimulating and assisting companies would continue, since they are the ones opening new jobs.
