Vice PM Xhaferi visits Denmark

Vice Prime Minister Musa Xhaferi pays Tuesday a working visit to the Kingdom of Denmark, where he met with government officials. He is also due to attend a conference organized by Dialogue Forum.

Xhaferi met with Minister for Trade and Investments Pia Olsen Dyhr and with Foreign Ministry's state secretary Michael Zilmer-Johns, the Secretariat for the Implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement said in a press release.

Interlocutors concluded that countries' relations were excellent voicing readiness to intensify cooperation in the future. Xhaferi informed his hosts about Macedonia's priorities, its foreign policy, the integration process and expectations stemming from the Macedonia-EU accession dialogue.

The Vice PM underlined that Macedonia's priority was still NATO and EU membership and that the country resumed implementing the necessary reforms.

"To meet this goal, it is necessary to lift the final barrier i.e. to solve the name dispute with Greece. The Framework Agreement plays an important role since the document has laid the foundations of a multi-ethnic state and opened the path towards Euro-Atlantic integration," Vice PM Xhaferi said.

He also referred to the reforms implemented by the government toward economic development and foreign investments.

Denmark's officials expressed support for Macedonia's Euro-Atlantic integration.

Minister Dyhr said that Denmark as EU presidency holder advocated enlargement of the Union. She said she would make effort to enhance the economic relations between Denmark and Macedonia.

Xhaferi also held talks with foreign policy chairman of the Liberal Party of Denmark, Jacob Jensen.

In Copenhagen, the Vice PM visited the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, where he met with the deputies of the secretary general, Gustavo Pallares and Tina Schøn.

At the meeting, Xhaferi praised the role of OSCE in Macedonia adding that the Macedonian government i.e. the Secretariat for the Implementation of the Ohrid Accord had an excellent cooperation with the organization.
