The President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, today met H.E. Andrea Silvestri, Ambassador of the Italian Republic in the country.
At the meeting both interlocutors underlined the sincere friendship between North Macedonia and Italy developed throughout the 30 years since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the countries.
Today, both countries, said the interlocutors, have advanced bilateral relations and are credible partners in the NATO Alliance. The Italian Republic, as said, is a staunch supporter of the Republic of North Macedonia in all its democratic and reform processes. The role of the Italian Republic in the Euro-integrations of the WB and particularly North Macedonia was underlined, as well as the support that Italy has provided during that efficient process.
Also, in addition to political, defence and cultural relations, it was ascertained that economic relations are also developing, and show a trend of improvement, given that Italy is among the 10 largest trade and investment partners of North Macedonia.
Prime Minister Xhaferi extended his appreciation for the Monograph, issued on the occasion of 30 years of diplomatic relations between the Italian Republic and the Republic of North Macedonia, qualifying it as a valuable testimony for future generations, for the deep and productive friendship between the countries in the region and in the European context.
He expressed his personal satisfaction with the fact that he has the opportunity to continue contributing to the further development of relations between the states from the position of Prime Minister.
The upcoming double elections in our country were also discussed at the meeting.
The presidential and parliamentary elections are considered extremely important, considering the need to confirm the European orientation of North Macedonia, both for the quality of life of the citizens in the country, and for the stability of the Western Balkans, and thus of Europe.
