The United Nations General Assembly, held this year for the 74th time, today officially began with work with a formal welcome of the Heads of State and Government and the Heads of Delegations by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
The President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, together with his wife Zorica Zaeva attended the solemn reception hosted by the Secretary-General Guterres in honour of the 74th General Assembly, which was followed by the opening of the general discussion “Galvanizing multilateral efforts for poverty eradication, quality education, climate action and inclusion”, which this year covers the topics of all five summits.
The Government Delegation from North Macedonia led by Prime Minister Zaev, together with the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs Bujar Osmani and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Health and Environment and Physical Planning Nikola Dimitrov, Dr. Venko Vilipche and Naser Nuredini likewise participated in the general discussion.
Prime Minister Zaev will have several bilateral meetings in the course of the day and will attend the reception for the Heads of Delegations of the UN General Assembly hosted by the President of the United States of America Donald Trump, as well as the reception of the European Union hosted by the President of the European Council Donald Tusk.
