Prime Minister Xhaferi meets EU member-states ambassadors: Forthcoming elections are part of North Macedonia’s path toward the EU

The President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, met EU member-states ambassadors in the country and the ambassador of the European Union in Skopje. 

This was the Prime Minister’s first meeting with the Ambassador and it was an opportunity for him to personally inform them about the Government’s programme for the forthcoming period in line of securing continuity of the Government's policies and activities related to the organization of the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections for the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia. 

In his address to the attendees, the Prime Minister underlined:  "The first clear message I want to convey to you at this meeting is that I am determined, the Government I lead to respond to the legal obligation to implement a fair and democratic electoral process, in accordance with the highest European standards and practices." 

In that line, the President of the Government, Xhaferi, said that the obligation for fair and democratic elections is not only of the Government and the national institutions, but also of all political entities in the country. Everyone should show maturity and responsibility, as befits a NATO member state, with negotiations with the EU started and the driving force of the Euro-Atlantic orientation of the region, and he will personally advocate for an atmosphere of constructiveness.
