The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, had a meeting today with the Special Envoy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the Western Balkans, Sir Stuart Peach, who is paying a two-day working visit to our country.
At their meeting, Minister Osmani hailed the intensive engagement of Sir Peach in the Western Balkans region, deeming it to be standing in testament to the continued commitment of the United Kingdom to our region.
Continuing, Minister Osmani briefed Sir Peach on the start of EU accession negotiations of our country and the opening of the relating screening of our country, assuring Sir Peach that the entire process will inevitably ensure progress for North Macedonia along its EU integration path by enabling the country to stably proceed with the implementation of its EU-related reforms.
Furthermore, Minister Osmani and UK Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Sir Peach, discussed the successful cooperation that North Macedonia and the United Kingdom have been enjoying in a multitude of other areas of mutual interest. The United Kingdom continues to be our second-ranked trading partner and one of the top-ranked foreign direct investors in our country.
Speaking in that context, UK Special Envoy Peach, on his part, offered his assurances to Minister Osmani that the United Kingdom will continue its staunch support for the EU integration of North Macedonia and the process of maintaining security and stability across the entire Western Balkans region which has been aimed at overcoming all risks and consequences caused by the war in Ukraine. In addition, Sir Peach hailed both the role and firm commitment of North Macedonia as NATO ally country towards preserving peace and security on the global stage.
